Bad News!

whishawhoop:

You see, a friend of mine works at the post office, and told me there was a package for me so he brought it. When I got it, I saw it was the envelope I used to send Ben’s birthday present to England.

Point One being, it never reached England. It got stuck in France. That’s perfectly fine, happens sometimes, surely to packages with books (I send books quite often, and it really does happen), but what shouldn’t happen is point number two.

It was open, and empty.

Now, I can’t tell you guys it arrived, because quite obviously, the envelope has never been in England, let alone London, or Hamilton Hotel. I also don’t know where it is, because obviously someone opened the envelope (it’s been torn open) and just didn’t put it back in.

I have sort of failed you guys, because all the effort you put in it, together with me, was quite something, and I am sorry. Perhaps I should have sent it registered, but I simply couldn’t pay that.

I plan on doing something else, something small quite soon. I’ll post something somewhat later, when I thought of something. For now I can just say, ehm, sorry. You guys, and Ben, aaand.. well, I’ll feel bad over this and think of a solution. Sorry, fandom.

qtmaster:

My dad just pointed at Ben on my Mojo poster in my room and shouted ‘BENNY’.

I have no words.

Oh, and please return the equipment in one piece.

Guys!

projectwhishaw:

I am going to spend the majority of this day on promotion, so if you would help me that would be splendid! I don’t know how much I’ve got in already, but I know it’s not nearly all because I got messages from a lot more. Please reblog this to remind the people that wanted to join that the deadline is 4 december - so tomorrow!

projectwhishaw:

Hello guys, there is another project coming up! After some talking to this great person and how Ben Whishaw inspired us both to pursue our dreams, I decided to do a little thing. The main idea is that you send me a little story about the one dream you are going to pursue in 2014. Whether you have been inspired or not by Ben isn’t that important, it is basically just going to be a collection of happy, beautiful stories of dreams we try to reach.

Since my dad actually has the chance to print the book this time it’s meant to be somewhat more than just a bundle of paper. It’s probably going to be a real, softcover bound book, so anyone willing to help me designing the front cover is very welcome as well.

To join in, this is what you have to do:

1. Write a story about the dream you wish to pursue/are persuing right now. The story has to be in first person and will start with the sentence: [Name] is going to….
2. Find a nice picture of yourself, preferably a very happy one! If you are not comfortable with a picture of yourself it can also be a drawing, or just a picture you think very pretty (though you do need to own the copyright, because otherwise I’ll be sued and I am too poor for that).
3. Mail the picture and the text (in two sepperate files, please, png for the picture and docx for the text) to projectwhishaw@gmail.com!

If you are interested in helping with the cover, please:

1. Design a general idea (it doesn’t have to be worked out, you can also write it down and message me).
2. Send this to me on projectwhishaw@gmail.com.
3. I will contact you after that, don’t worry!

I am really excited for this, I hope to gather as many stories as possible so if you’ll share this/link to this I’ll be pleased. You can also join in on facebook and twitter!

I will publish the little stories on the tumblr, unless you don’t want this! Please give me permission to post your stuff in your mail, or tell me you don’t want it posted :)

Much love,

- A

I noticed my homepage does not allow this to be reblogged, and as such I hope you guys will reblog it from here :)

Present sent, done and all!

Now I do have another question. I am always busy on actions, and at the moment I am starting up a project to raise money for a cancer research foundation here in the Netherlands, where I live. It would mean a great deal to me if someone of you would help me, deliver some ideas and all!

I mean, what’s a better thing to continue a birthday gift than doing the right stuff?

Bridge it - a beginner’s guide to changing the world

bridge-us:

Why?

Tumblr is one of the quickest growing communities in the world, and surely one of the most diverse. Fandoms, equality blogs, tumblr-famous people - you will find them all. In a way, tumblr can be regarding as a bridge between countries, cultures and social differences.

My name is Benji and I am researching how to make the world a better place. Not in environmental sense, or by stopping all wars, or clearing out poverty - because I can’t, and I know that. But there are other things we can do, and during my project I found something I think very important.

We are tomorrow’s parents.

You might not want to believe it - personally, I am still highly convinced I do not want kids - but one day, we are going to have a child around (be it yours, your cousin or the kid of a friend) that is going to see us as an example - and that’s where we need to begin the change!

Racism can only be beaten through generations. If we teach our children about different cultures, different social groups, different genders and all those things politics in many countries are fighting over, we can change the world. Not now, not next week - but if we start now, I bet that in 50 years children will think you are joking when you say two men couldn’t get married when you were young.

How?

It isn’t strange we are weary of other cultures - we don’t really know them, after all. It’s not strange we are frightened of change when we are doing all-right. But we can do better, and that’s why I started this project.

We are going to gather as many different people as we can. As many different cultures, sizes, religions as we can - and we are going to build a bridge. Not just between two regions, no - we are going to build a roundabout around the world. Once or twice a month I will post a prompt, and gather all different responses to this prompt.

For example, I post the prompt of Same-sex marriage and ask for your responses. In the Netherlands, where I am from, this is allowed, and as such my response would be something like this:

"In the Netherlands, same-sex marriage has been legal since 2001."

However, if someone is from Russia, they might send something entirely different, like:

"In strict Christian faith, two men or two women are not allowed to marry."

So here is where we do the Bridge thing - I will post a full list of all responses and you pick one - preferable contrasting with your own religion or culture, and you write it down or print it. You will put it in an envelope and leave it in a public place - where someone else will be able to find it. In this way, we trigger people to think outside their box, perhaps to join and maybe, they’ll even adjust their views a little. We can show the world what they miss out on being hostile to ‘the other’ and hopefully, we can also chat together in order to get to know each other.

Who?

Well, everyone who would like to join in! Please to to this page to see how you can contribute or contact me! I will post regular promotion messages, so I am also always looking for people to spread the wor(l)d! Let’s Bridge it!

Not normally doing this but I passed this on the same-sex marriage tag and I loved this and it had no notes at all and that was sad.
